Lafayete and Lincoln

Alex, Stephen and I hiked the Lafayete and Lincoln loop last wednesday. The AMC book time for the trail we took is 6 hours and 50 minutes, we did it in 4 hours and 30 minutes :) . It was a ton of fun though and so beautiful. A little cloudy and cold at the top but still a very nice hike. I went biking on Saturday and played frisbee yesterday. First day of classes today was so boring. I can't wait for the semester to end, lol.

back to the gym finally

So I lifted today for the first time in a few weeks. Nothing big, Just 3 sets each of flat bench press, shoulder press, and tricep pull downs. Then I did abs and lower back.

Yesterday I went over stephens and fixed up my bike, adjusted the brakes and put on new pedals. Then we went out for a joy ride through the center of hollis and over by the highschool. We finished the evening off by getting a nice, large dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

I broke my bike :(

So I tried to go biking today after work and was only out for about 5 minutes when I hit a rock dead on and went over the handle bars. When I got up I saw that my front tire was now more ovalish than circular. 70 bucks later that night I got a new rim and tube. Now I just need to adjust my breaks and it will be as good as new.

Running

I went running tonight after work and almost died. I did my 4.25 mile heartbreak hill loop and was seriously hurting by the end of the run. It took me 35:10(8:17 pace) and my legs got really tired and my chest felt like it was about to rip open. Good wake up call though as to how much I am not in running shape. There is such a big difference between being in shape and being in "running shape". Because I am in decent shape but in terrible running shape.

I am Man, Hear me Roar!!!!!!!!!

So to recap my summer I hiked mt washington(6200ft) and mt tecumseh(4000ft) in NH and mt old rag(3300ft) in Virginia. On Sunday I bought a pair of new hiking boots which are much lighter and better suited for hiking then the work boots I have been using. Me and Alex are planning on hiking the end of next week as both of us have it off from work before school starts. Preliminary research has led me to think that we will be doing a loop in which we hit 2 peaks, lafayette(5250ft) and Lincoln(5050ft). The total hiking time should be about the same as it took us to hike washington as you hike a steep ridge between the two peaks. Tonight I am heading over to Silver Lake for a free Kayak testing session put on by EMS. I heard about it when I bought my boots and after ocean kayaking on Saturday I think that it could be something that I would like to get into. Anyone want to sponsor me???
