Lazy week

Well, lazy in a workout sense. I played ultimate frisbee on Saturday, lifted on Monday, and went hiking in the woods for an hour on Tuesday. Not my usual athletic packed life but I guess that this is good to get me good and rested for our hike.

7 days until we hike!!!!!!!!!!

I ran a slow 5k yesterday, is it 3.1 or 3.2 miles? Then I did some squats and lifted back and biceps. My left knee is bothering me today which has me worried. Am I just getting old or something wrong with it???? I really hope that it is not an issue when we hike. Might have to take some meds for back up even though I hate using medicine.

Tired...

Just got back from boston, hit up Game On! and Boston Beer Works to watch the Red Sox game. I lifted yesterday, chest, triceps, and shoulders. I also ran a mile and did a bunch of ab stuff, the usual workout. I am so excited to go hiking but am thinking about blowing off work tomorrow and just sleeping in :)

Mt. Moosilauke

I hiked up Mt. Moosilauke(4800 ft) yesterday with Stephen, Alex, Jeff, and Mike. The three of us hiking the presidentials all had our large packs with a ton of weight in them for training. The trail is one of the steepest in the White Mountains because it is right next to these cascades for about 2 miles. This made for very beautiful, but challenging climbing. My legs felt good the whole way but my left knee started to really bother me on the way down. Also my shoulders got very tired so me and Stephen decided that we will have to hike in the Hollis town forest with our packs on a few times to get used to it. I am really excited for our trip in two weeks and hope that my knee doesn't give me any more problems.

Tired

After chopping wood for over 2 hours yesterday, I was sluggish and tired at the gym today. I ran a mile then did squats followed by lifting back and biceps. In all the excersises I felt tired and didn't have much motivation to continue. I am taking tomorrow off completely and hope that it will help rejuvinate me so that I can hit the racketball courts hard on Saturday morning and run up Mt Moosilauke on Sunday.

Biking....

Went for a ride yesterday and couldn't get up a single hill and almost died like 10 times in the first 30 minutes. Then I settled down and had a nice ride but it was really weird that I was having so much trouble initially. I am about to go outside into the thick, muggy stuff they call air and finish splitting some wood, should be fun.

Walk it out!

Well doing those few sets of squats really killed my legs and walking has been difficult the last two days, gosh that is such a good exercise. Tonight I went to the ymca with dad and ran a mile then stretched my legs really good to try to loosen them up a little. Then I lifted chest, shoulders, and triceps. Feeling stronger then last week, but thats not saying much.

I got a point!!!!!

Got an early start on the day with some racketball at the ymca at 7am with Tom and Matt. Played 3 games of cut throat the first of which I didn't score. They are both incredible, if I continue to play with them I expect to learn a ton. The I did some weighted abs stuff and 3 sets of squats. Off to my uncles for his birthday party in a bit.

Burn it up!

Tuesday: I stacked wood and dug holes for my mom for about 2 hours then went biking with Stephen, Mike, and Jeff. We were cruising along pretty good when Jeff got a flat, so we said goodbye to him as he hiked his bike out and did a few more trails, then we got a call that Mike had Jeff's keys so we decided to call it a night. Afterward we went to EMS and I bought a sleeping bag and rain cover for my pack.

Wednesday: Ordered a tent from the Peterborough EMS store early in the morning that they were out of at the Nashua store last night. Then stacked wood for a hour followed by splitting wood for another hour. Man was that fun although exhausting.

Thursday: Wow, my forearms are so sore from splitting wood yesterday, I can't believe it. I went to the YMCA with dad and ran a 5k (24:30 bleh) then stretched out and did abs stuff. Finally I lifted back and biceps but couldn't do too much because I am so sore.

Time to become a mountain man!

In preparation for our great outdoor adventure into the White Mountains I have begun vigorously training. Last week I went biking 4 times, running once, swimming once, and hiked Mt Monadnock on Sunday. All good cardio exercises and going up Monadnock I felt great and am not sore at all today.

Tonight I went to the YMCA and lifted for the first time in over a month. Did bench press, military shoulder press, incline bench press, tricep extensions, and dips after warming up with a quick mile around the track, some stretching, and abs exercises. My arms are so dead but it feels good.
